Man United Have Shown Me How To Beat Liverpool, Ajax Coach Says

After defeating Liverpool earlier in the season, Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder believes Manchester United have provided him with the ideal example to follow.

Despite Liverpool controlling the ball at Old Trafford in their 2-1 victory over the Reds in August, Manchester United played effectively. Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford sealed the victory.

After destroying Rangers 4-0 in Amsterdam the previous week, Ajax will play Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday night at Anfield.

In their opening-round group game against Napoli, Jurgen Klopp’s team struggled, losing 4-1 on Wednesday in Naples.

What Did Schreuder Say About Liverpool?

Schreuder revealed that he has studied Liverpool’s loss to Manchester United. The Ajax coach believes that there are some strategies that were successful for Ten Hag’s club and might be successful for his team on Tuesday.

Schreuder said to the media: “I have looked at the United match and what they did. There are certain things they did that are applicable to us.

“You have to be good with the ball against these kinds of teams. You need to have guts and courage. Courage is key. If you have that, then you have a chance.”

The Ajax manager anticipates a “storm” at Anfield as Klopp looks for a response from his team.

“I think Klopp is just going to ask the players to play in a defensive way better than they did last time. Managers admit if you haven’t played well.

“We expect to go into a storm, we are also good. We try to play our own game. You have to have courage and tomorrow, if we can do that, we have a chance.

“If you don’t have it, it is going to be difficult, especially one on one. Ajax have shown in the last years we can compete at this level.

“It’s a big compliment for the people here at Ajax to get a strong squad again.

“We signed a few players and some young players have come in, which fit into the Ajax system. It gives us new energy,” the Ajax boss concluded.
