Manchester United have reportedly reversed course due to Barcelona’s refusal to exercise their buyout option on Marcus Rashford.
After joining Barcelona on loan last summer, Rashford has made 48 appearances for the Catalan powerhouses in all competitions, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists.
Last Saturday, the 28-year-old struck a spectacular free kick to help Barcelona defeat Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clasico to win La Liga. Following the match, he reaffirmed his wish to stay longer at the Nou Camp.
Rashford Reacts To His Future
“I’m not a magician, but if I was, I would stay [at Barcelona],” Rashford said. “We will see. I came here to win.
“This is a wonderful team, they’re going to win so much in the future; to be a part of that would be special.”
Barcelona want to review those conditions with United because of a limited budget, though they have a €30 million [£26 million] option to secure his permanent transfer this summer.

The Independent reports that “there is a possibility he returns to United in July” and that the two clubs are “set to reopen negotiations next week in the hope of constructing a deal.”
Michael Carrick is expected to be named permanent manager after his successful temporary tenure. Plans are on to further rebuild the team, with a number of costly midfield players now being discussed.
In a recent development, however, the source states that “another loan deal is a possibility,” despite the fact that Bayern Munich and Arsenal have been mentioned as potential bidders for the England international.
