Man City Chairman Responds To Premier League Charges Against The Club

Following the conclusion of the legal procedure, Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak vowed to express his “very strong views” on the Premier League allegations the club is facing.

The Premier League slammed treble winners City with a series of extremely serious allegations in February. Accusing them of lying about their finances for over ten years of football. And failing to cooperate with an investigation into that.

According to Manchester Evening News, the Sky blues want to defend their name and have refuted every allegation of rule violations. But a decision may take years because of the charges’ unique magnitude and scope.

Al Mubarak briefly touched on the claims in his end-of-season chat with club media. Pep Guardiola has been the only prominent figure to remark on the charges in the four months since they were made public.

The chairman did not go into specifics, but he did promise to be more open after the legal battle.

“Obviously I can’t talk about them unfortunately for legal reasons,” he said on the day after the Champions League final. “And what I would typically always do is comment after, so I think we’re going to go through, we’re going through the legal process.

“These are proceedings that take whatever time they take and when we’re done, we’ll have a conversation. I’ll give you my very blunt views, I promise you that. I have very strong views on that, but I am going to be unfortunately very restrained today.”

The Cityzens would hope their names are cleared as soon as possible. If found guilty, they might face some stringent penalties. Which may include stripping of titles off them, points deduction and even relegation to the second division.
