Liverpool Set For ‘New Move’ For Dutch Defender

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a ‘new move’ for Torino central defender, Perr Schuurs in a bid to beat Crystal Palace for his services.

Prior to his £8 million move to Torino, Schuurs was initially on Liverpool’s radar last summer. And the Reds made an effort to convince the Dutchman to sign with them.

“Over the time, clubs of the calibre of Tottenham, Liverpool or PSG had moved to take the player,”Italian agent George Gardi, who served as a go-between for Ajax and Torino, claimed.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Crystal Palace intended to go ahead of the Reds for the player.

According to DAZN, the Eagles have offered the Schuurs a four-year contract and a €35 million transfer fee.

The center-back, who ‘would be interested’ in moving to Anfield, has been targeted by the Reds.

Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven is another center-back said to be on Liverpool’s radar. But the Premier League club has opted against signing the defender, according to German publication Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung as reported by Football 365.

Following a discussion between Klopp and new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke, Liverpool’s interest has “cooled noticeably.”

According to reports, the two came to the conclusion that the youngster lacked the necessary “physical robustness” to play for the Reds.

Palace star, Marc Guehi is reportedly still on Liverpool’s radar. If Palace are successful in luring Schuurs, the door may be open for the England international to move to Anfield.
