Liverpool ‘Make Offer’ To Alonso After ‘Contacting’ The Manager’s Representatives

Liverpool have reportedly taken a significant step in their hunt to find a suitable replacement for Jurgen Klopp.

According to the Daily Star, the Reds have made an offer to Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso after getting in contact with his agent.

Alonso’s name surfaced immediately after Klopp pronounced his departure from Anfield at the end of the season. This season, the former midfielder, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 has led a title challenge in Germany.

With an unbeaten record so far in the season, Leverkusen have advanced to the DFB-Pokal semifinals, topped their Europa League group, and are ahead of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga race.

As they prepare for Tuchel’s departure, Alonso’s other former club, Bayern, are rumored to be interested in the 42-year-old.

Alonso, though, could choose to remain where he is. He might want to finish what he started in Germany since Leverkusen will almost definitely play UEFA Champions League football next season, which would force Liverpool and Bayern to look elsewhere.

According to Bild, Liverpool have already gotten in contact with Inaki Ibanez, Alonso’s agent. The Mirror claims that the manager is anticipated to remain in his current position rather than switch to the Premier League.

Alonso’s contract is still in effect for another two years. After taking over in October 2022, he was able to get the team out of the relegation zone and into Europe in his first season.

Julian Nagelsmann and Ruben Amorim are two more possible managers that Liverpool are taking into consideration.

While the former Bayern manager, Nagelsmann, is currently in charge of the German national team. Amorim is making an impression with Sporting CP in Portugal.
