Lewandowski Agreed To Man United Move As He Drops Transfer Bombshell

Barcelona forward, Robert Lewandowski has revealed that he once agreed to the opportunity of playing for Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, only for the deal to fall through.

The Barca talisman has been one of Europe’s best No 9s for well over ten years, setting several records. But he could have played at Old Trafford under the Scot in his last season as manager.

The 35-year-old approved to switch from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester in 2012, which was the last season of Ferguson’s time as a manager. The interest followed a season in which Lewandowski scored 30 goals to win the Bundesliga title.

However, Dortmund just refused to sell, which made any switch impossible.

What Did Lewandowski Say About His Failed Move To Man United?

The Polish star told the BBC: “To Manchester United I decided and said yes. I wanted to join Manchester United, to see Alex Ferguson.”

It indicates that Lewandowski has never been prolific in Germany and Spain but never in England. Even though there is a part of him that would have wanted to have played in the Premier League, he maintains that a resume that lists Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Dortmund is unworthy of notice.

He admitted: “Maybe it could be a regret [not to play in the Premier League]. But when I am looking back [having] played for Bayern Munich, Dortmund and now Barcelona I have to say I am very happy with my career.

“I don’t have this kind of feeling that I missed something, because every move or decision… I made because I wanted it.”
