Lewandowski Admits Pressure Is On Poland To Qualify To RO16

Robert Lewandowski has acknowledged that Argentina’s loss to Saudi Arabia has put pressure on Poland to take advantage of the shocking outcome and advance to the World Cup’s knockout rounds.

Argentina began their World Cup campaign in Qatar as one of the pre-tournament favorites.

However, in one of the biggest surprises in World Cup history, they lost to Saudi Arabia 2-1 after conceding twice in five second-half minutes.

Poland played Mexico later in the day, but only managed a 0-0 draw, with Lewandowski having a penalty saved by Guillermo Ochoa.

Group C is now delicately poised, and Lewandowski has said that his side are aware that they face a huge match against Saudi Arabia on Saturday which could go some way to determining whether they make the last 16 or not.

“Surprised? Of course,” Lewandowski told reporters in Qatar when asked about Saudi Arabia beating Argentina.

“There is some surprise but this is the World Cup so you have to be ready for everything.

“Now we are looking forward to the next game against Saudi Arabia and for us it will be a very important game.

“We have to show everything from our side and we know that it will be a very difficult game.”
