Laura Woods Pleads With Gareth Southgate To Change His Mind Over Ben White Snub

After the Arsenal star was left off of the most recent Three Lions list, Laura Woods encouraged England manager Gareth Southgate to give Ben White another chance.

White was snubbed over despite his stellar club performance for the Gunners. Who are presently leading the Premier League standings by an eight-point margin.

The 25-year-old has played right back for Mikel Arteta’s side this season and is also capable of playing center back.

In the first round of their Euro 2024 qualification, England will play Italy on Thursday and Ukraine on Sunday.

White was picked to represent England at the World Cup in Qatar in the winter. But he was sent home during the competition due to an alleged misconduct.

Woods, who is an ardent Arsenal fan shared her thoughts on talkSports about Southgate’s decision to omit White from his squad.

‘You know what I’m disappointed about? And I don’t know what happened behind the scenes… I’ve spoken to people who have a semi-good idea of it… Ben White.

‘Is there no way back? Do you know what I mean? Ben White is playing some brilliant football. He’s versatile across that back-line. Right-back, centre-back, you can utilise him there.

‘Someone like Gareth Southgate, who has a great connection with that team, surely must sit down and say, ‘let’s discuss a way back’. She told the radio station.

White provided an assist in Sunday’s 4-1 success over Crystal Palace. He also scored in Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over AFC Bournemouth earlier this month.
