Klopp Responds To Real Madrid President Florentino Perez’s New Superleague Comments

Following the General Assembly of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez was back in the news over the weekend. However, this wasn’t because his budget for the upcoming campaign had been approved.

The long-serving president of Los Blancos utilized his platform to speak extensively to the club’s supporters in favour of the Superleague project. Real Madrid continues to be a part of the Superleague project, together with Juventus and Barcelona.

His discourse focused on the global entertainment market, claiming that football was losing the battle for the attention of young people, especially compared to sports in the United States of America.

His solution was to increase the number of matches between the best clubs in Europe in order to produce a “quality product,” which he claimed football did not.

How Did Klopp Respond To The Real Madrid President’s Suggestions?

BBC Radio Five Live questioned Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, about his thoughts on the statements.

“Pffft (hisses). No opinion on that. I have nothing to say to that. I think if you want to make football better, we should play less games and give the players more time to train.

“How’s that? But no opinion on that,” Klopp remarked.

While Klopp was relatively diplomatic in his answer, it seems clear he does not agree with the suggestion.
