Juventus Appoints Thiago Motta On A Three-Year Deal

Thiago Motta, who had also managed Genoa, Spezia and Paris Saint-Germain’s junior team, is credited with orchestrating Bologna’s surprise 2024–25 Champions League qualification.

The Rossoblu have finished third in the table with 68 points from 37 games this season under Motta’s guidance, ending their 59-year banishment from Europe’s top club competition.

The 41-year-old has unavoidably been connected to several elite teams ahead of this summer’s managerial whirlwind, including Premier League powerhouse Manchester United, because of his outstanding record at Dall’Ara.

But starting with the 2024–25 season, Motta is anticipated to take the helm at Bologna’s Serie A opponent Juventus; the midfielder’s contract with Bologna expires at the end of the current campaign.

Bologna declared in a statement on Monday that Motta will not be extending his contract at Dall’Ara. He will lead the Rossoblu in their final Serie A match on Friday against Genoa.

Thiago Motta Exit Bologna To Juventus

Thiago Motta informed the Club this morning that he would not be continuing his contract with Bologna FC 1909. After learning of his decision, the Club would want to express its gratitude to Thiago for the amazing work he has done while he has been here and wish him luck in the future with his career,” Bologna stated.

Motta’s name would live on in Bologna’s history, according to club president Joey Saputo, who said, “Over the last two years, I have come to know a coach who is well-prepared and successful.” He has ingrained in this generation a wonderful style of play.

“He and all these players will go down in our club’s history for making it to the Champions League. Although I would have preferred for him to remain at Bologna, all I can do is express my gratitude to him and his team for these incredible two seasons and my best wishes for their future.”

It won’t be long until Motta is named the new manager of Juventus, who will hire him for a three-year term that ends in the summer of 2027, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano via Sports Mole

Following his collapse following Juventus’ Coppa Italia final victory over Atalanta BC, Massimiliano Allegri was fired. The former manager of Genoa and Spezia will take over for the previous manager.

Bologna and Juventus are tied for first place in the Serie A standings, but Bologna has a better goal differential than the Bianconeri. The Bianconeri play their final home game of the season on Saturday against Monza.
