Julian Alvarez Makes A Choice Regarding Arsenal, Chelsea, And Manchester United Transfers

Manchester United has joined Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, according to Spanish media.

Alvarez has been widely linked with a return to England ahead of the summer transfer window, having spent the last two seasons in Madrid.

Atletico agreed to pay more than £80 million on Alvarez, who was only a squad player at Manchester City.

But the Argentine had a solid first season under Diego Simeone, scoring 29 goals across all competitions.

Alvarez has been less effective this season, scoring his 12th goal in Atletico’s spectacular 4-0 Copa del Rey triumph over Barcelona last week, breaking an 11-game drought.

The 26-year-old World Cup champion remains one of Europe’s most highly regarded forwards, and he is garnering interest from a number of major teams ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with a transfer for Alvarez, who scored 36 goals for Manchester City over two seasons, winning two Premier League crowns, the Champions League, and the FA Cup.

Arsenal, the Premier League champions, signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting last summer, but the Swedish international has had a difficult first season at Emirates Stadium.

While he has started to score goals since the turn of the year, a number of pundits have questioned whether he has the all-round talent to lead Arsenal’s attack.

Chelsea, however, spent nearly £100 million on Joao Pedro and Liam Delap last summer but are still expected to acquire a new striker in the coming transfer window.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Manchester United is also interested in signing Alvarez, an ex-Manchester City forward.
