Jose Mourinho has apparently secured an arrangement with Real Madrid to make a dramatic comeback to the club at the end of the 2025–26 season.
Real Madrid’s challenging season will conclude without a major prize, with Los Blancos missing out on the Copa del Rey and Champions League, while the capital club has been unable to fight with Barcelona for the La Liga crown this season.
After losing 2-0 to Barcelona in El Clasico on Sunday, Real Madrid fell 14 points behind their opponents with only three games remaining, allowing the Catalan giants to claim the title.

Alvaro Arbeloa is unlikely to stay at Real Madrid, and Mourinho has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed the Spaniard in 2026-27.
According to writer Sacha Tavolieri, Mourinho has agreed to return to the Bernabeu, with an announcement from the club anticipated next week.
Mourinho ‘set’ to return to Real Madrid this summer
Mourinho previously led Los Blancos from May 2010 to June 2013, winning three trophies, including the 2011-12 La Liga title. His contract with Benfica expires at the end of next season, but he is expected to leave this summer. A return to Real Madrid for Mourinho would be controversial, with club legend Iker Casillas strongly opposing a move.
The 63-year-old’s contract with Benfica is supposed to expire at the end of next season, but he plans to leave the Portuguese club this summer.
Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid would be contentious, and club great Iker Casillas has spoken out firmly against the deal.
“I have no issues with Mourinho. He appears to be a very competent professional. I do not want him at Real Madrid. Other coaches, in my opinion, would be better suited to coach at the club I call home. Personal viewpoint. “Nothing more,” Casillas wrote on X.
Casillas ‘does not want’ Mourinho to return to Real Madrid
Casillas played under Mourinho at Real Madrid before being demoted to number one in December 2012.
The 44-year-old is recognized as one of Real Madrid’s most essential players, having made 725 appearances from 1999 to 2015.
Since leaving Real Madrid, Mourinho has managed Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Roma, Fenerbahce, and Benfica.
Mourinho’s reputation has suffered in recent years, despite the fact that he was once regarded as the best head coach in the world, but Perez remains a tremendous fan, and a return to the Bernabeu this summer appears to be imminent.
