Jesse Lingard ‘Offers Himself’ To Barcelona As Ex-Man Utd star Eyes Stunning Transfer To Spanish Giants

Jesse Lingard has been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest as a free agent last summer, but according to one rumor, the former England midfielder could be set for a surprise move to Barcelona.

Few would have predicted that Barcelona, the defending La Liga winners, would be the 31-year-old’s next destination.

According to SPORT, Lingard has been ‘offered’ to the Catalan giants, who are primarily restricted to recruiting players on free transfers due to persistent financial issues.

As a result, the former West Ham loanee might be an intriguing choice for Xavi’s Blaugrana, who are presently third in Spain’s top flight, trailing surprise package Girona and arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Since signing Gary Lineker from Everton for £2.8 million in 1986, Barcelona has not signed an English – or British – player for their men’s first team.

Lingard, who has been linked with a move to MLS in the United States, has stated his intention to begin his career in 2024.

On New Year’s Eve, he posted an Instagram post from entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den star Steven Bartlett, which read: “You spent the majority of 2023 in survival mode.” Let 2024 be a year of rebirth. It is possible to thrive while getting to where you wish to go.”

Lingard last played in a competitive match in April of last year, when he came on as a late substitute for Nottingham Forest in a 2-0 loss to… Manchester United.
