Jason Cundy Makes Grim Chelsea Claim And FA Prediction Following Brighton Defeat

Jason Cundy described Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Brighton as the ‘worst performance’ he has ever witnessed from his former team.

Liam Rosenior’s team were completely outplayed away to Brighton, with goals from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood, and Danny Welbeck ending the Blues’ Champions League ambitions.

Chelsea has now lost five league games without a goal for the first time since 1912, and they are seven points behind Liverpool in fifth place with only four games remaining.

Away supporters chanted for Rosenior’s dismissal in the second half, despite the fact that the Englishman had only replaced Enzo Maresca four months before.

Cundy, an ex-Chelsea defender, was brutally honest in his assessment of his old team’s performance on Tuesday evening.

‘That was really awful,’ he told talkSPORT. ‘I am ashamed of my performance tonight. I feel completely humiliated. It lacks courage.

‘They completely hammered us. They embarrassed us. At 2-0, I believe the result does not accurately reflect the game. Even at 3-0, it still doesn’t.

‘The team’s formation, with five at the back, just didn’t work. You noticed this after around seven minutes. We could not get out of our box. We couldn’t get out of our half. Brighton treated it like a training game.

I’m not sure what happened in the first half. That was completely turgid. Disgusting. And do you know what? It is getting worse. Brighton are a decent side, but this is unforgivable.

‘I believe this is the worst [Chelsea] performance I’ve ever witnessed, and I’ve played in a few. I cannot conceive of a worse performance. I honestly cannot. I can’t conceive of a worse gutless, cowardly performance.
