Ince blasts Mourinho and questions why Man Utd are paying Sanchez ‘half a million a week’

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has slammed Jose Mourinho’s tactics and particularly his use of Alexis Sanchez.

United have endured a difficult start to the season with Saturday’s draw against Crystal Palace leaving them seventh in the Premier League, 14 points behinds Manchester City.

The Red Devils were less than inspiring going forward at Selhurst Park and Ince has blasted their approach to games.

‘We’re talking about United, no disrespect to Palace, but bringing on Fellaini before Sanchez, what is the plan?’ he said on Match of the Day 2.

‘When United can’t score, bring Fellaini on, go long, Palace are set up for that. They are relying on luck, knock downs, Palace are set up for that.

‘Paying Sanchez half a million pounds, and not to be a quarterback. Playing long ball. We don’t want him like that, we want him in 18-yard area. Fans have been patient but I don’t see cohesion or how we are trying to play.

‘Mourinho is unsure of his best XI, changed time and again, same with Fulham. after three years and millions of pounds he still doesn’t know the team. As a manager, to get cohesion and consistency, you need an 11 you can trust. Play them for 5 games, and they might perform better.’

Fellow pundit Matthew Upson agreed, saying: ‘Palace carved the best opportunities and the better chances. The biggest fear for United is that they cannot keep the ball.

‘Changes are trait of team that are struggling, changing what they are doing. City stick to their plan. United change it because they are unsure’
