‘I Have Agreed,’ Says Kalvin Phillips, Who Has Been Tied With Everton And Newcastle United

Kalvin Phillips has confessed that he is considering his options ahead of the January transfer window.

The midfielder is on the outskirts of Manchester City after joining from Leeds United for up to £45 million in the summer of 2022. Phillips has only made 26 appearances for City, five of which have come this season. Despite Rodri’s suspension, Etihad manager Pep Guardiola selected 18-year-old Rico Lewis in the engine room for the 1-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Phillips has kept his spot in the England squad despite his lack of game-time, however. He started last night’s 3-1 victory over Italy which ensured the Three Lions qualified for the 2024 European Championships.

Given his lack of opportunities at the Premier League champions, Phillips has been linked with a move away when the transfer window opens in two and a half months. Everton, Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Bayern Munich have all expressed interest in signing the 27-year-old.

He told the BBC, “I know that I need to be playing games and competing every weekend.”Over the next few months, I’ll have to make a decision about [my future]. He [Gareth Southgate] just states that in order for me to keep my spot, I must play games

“I want to play football and want to play as much as possible. Over the last year and a half, I haven’t been able to do that due to injuries and [other factors]. It’s something I am going to have to think about. Hopefully, my chance does come but if it doesn’t then I will have to make other decisions as well.”
