Girona provided one of the La Liga weekend’s results, a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Montilivi, with Claudio Echeverri of Manchester City playing a key role from the bench.
The Argentine did not begin. However, once introduced, he altered the match’s dynamic. In 27 minutes, he was involved 14 times and produced two scoring chances. Most notably, he fought for the ball during the sequence that resulted in the crucial 2-1 goal.
Following the match, Echeverri emphasized the team’s performance. Olé recounted the Manchester City loanee’s words in Argentina.
“To me, Barcelona is the finest team in the world right now. We anticipated we’d suffer at some point due to the caliber of their players. But the team played exceptionally well, ran a lot, and that’s why we won.”
He also focused on his own contribution to the winner.

“I attempted to contribute and support the squad because we wanted to win. We also needed points, and with the push, we were able to get the goal.”
He possesses brutal talent
According to Spanish source AS, Girona manager Míchel Sánchez praised the youngster’s performance.
“He’s a player with tremendous talent. He spent half a year at Leverkusen without getting continuous playing time, and he may need to calm down a little, but his skill is incredible.”
“He plays in space, is clinical in front of the net, and we need to get him closer to the box. He’s also fantastic in tight places, with a strong final pass, a quick burst of speed, and a powerful shot. Claudio possesses immense talent. He’s going to give us a lot over the following few months.
Girona had previously attempted to obtain his loan and finally brought him in during the winter window. So far, he has appeared in four games, but none as a starter. Nonetheless, his impact has remained continuous.
Against Barcelona, however, the influence was undeniable. The performance was not only promising; it directly contributed to three critical points. Hopefully for Manchester City, he’ll be able to maintain the pace and earn a future berth in sky blue.
