Former Man United midfielder Anderson trolls Gerrard’s lack of Premier League title

Anderson, the former Manchester United midfielder, could not resist a cheeky dig at Steven Gerrard after the ex-Liverpool and England captain announced his retirement.

Gerrard, who is now expected to move into management or coaching following his long and successful career, has been on the receiving end of lavish praise from football’s biggest names following the decision to hang up his boots.

But for Anderson, the Brazilian who cost Manchester United £20 million in 2007, the occasion was a chance to remind the world that Gerrard to lift the Premier League trophy.

‘I won everything at the club. I won four Premier Leagues,’ he told ESPN Brasil.

‘A player like Gerrard, who like, played for Liverpool, a player who has history in world football, didn’t win one. And I achieve four playing for the club,’ the Brazilian added.

‘I was world champion at the club. I was Champions League champion. I played three Champions League finals for the club.

‘When I arrived at the club, all the players embraced me. They always joked with everyone. The guys there are very nice. To this day, I’m passionate for that club. It’s the number one in the world for me.’
