Dortmund Director Addresses Jude Bellingham Future Amid Liverpool Interest

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has addressed the uncertainty concerning Jude Bellingham’s future. He has stated that the club have received no offers for Jude Bellingham this summer and that they would fight to keep the England star in 2023.

Liverpool are willing to sign the teenage Three Lions star. He is their No. 1 priority for next summer, but with Jurgen Klopp now missing Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Curtis Jones, the Reds are desperate to sign a midfielder now. The former Birmingham City youngster is their prefered target, but the Merseysiders admit they are unlikely to entice him away from the Westfalenstadion before the current transfer window closes.

Bellingham is now one of the Bundesliga’s greatest players and was runner-up to Barcelona midfielder Pedri in the Golden Boy voting last year – given to Europe’s best young footballer – and is up for the prestigious honor again in 2022.

Bellingham made his professional debut as a 16-year-old for Championship Birmingham in August 2019 and went on to make 44 appearances for the club that season before joining Dortmund for an initial £25 million deal in July 2020.

He has continued to thrive in Germany, appearing in 95 games for Borussia Dortmund, 18 of which have come in European play. The midfielder assisted the German giants in winning the DFB-Pokal in May 2021, his first major honour in a burgeoning career.

Bellingham has three years left on his contract and is thought to be worth £115 million to Dortmund. And Kehl has stated that Dortmund have yet to receive a bid for Bellingham.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Kehl told Sky90: “There is certainly a lot of interest.”

Kehl also insisted there was “nothing” on the table for Dortmund to consider and said there’s a chance Bellingham will stay at the club beyond the summer of 2023. “I hope so [that he’ll stay],” said Kehl when asked. “He feels very comfortable with us.”

When asked about his future plans in May, Bellingham stated: “The only future I think about is the next game for Dortmund. I look forward to next season. I look forward to it finally starting. But yes, I will be here next season and I will be ready.”
