Darwin Nunez Is An Injury Doubt Against Brighton, Jurgen Klopp Reveals

Darwin Nunez is a doubt for Liverpool’s Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday, according to Jurgen Klopp.

The Uruguay striker has been away from training this week, and while Klopp downplayed the impact of the blow, Liverpool could be without their center forward at the Amex.

At his press conference prior to the game, Klopp stated: ‘If he cannot train today then yet that would rule him out.

‘We are waiting for information it’s not a major one but it’s kept him out of training so we’ll have to wait for that.’

Liverpool are also without long-term absentees Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, while Roberto Firmino is still some way from making his return from what was originally described as a minor injury.

Klopp added: ‘It was a little injury, estimated to be 10 days or two weeks, all the experts told us what to do but Bobby felt something again.

‘I don’t know exactly when he will be back, but he is not close to team training.’

Despite their depleted squad, Klopp played down the possibility of the Reds making further additions in what remains of the January window.

He said: ‘It is like it is. I’m not there constantly, my job is to use the boys we have. Up front we don’t have five options and if we do, they are very young.

‘In a dream land, you would buy players, but I don’t see that coming.’

Liverpool have already bolstered their forward line in the current transfer window with the signing of Cody Gakpo who made his debut in last week’s 2-2 draw against Wolves in the FA Cup.
