Chelsea to offer Barcelona Arrizabalaga in swap deal for Ter Stegen

Chelsea are eyeing an ‘impossible’ move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to reports.

Frank Lampard’s side are thought to be keen on replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga in the upcoming transfer window after a difficult spell for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

And while they are aware of how tough it will be to prise Ter Stegen away from the Nou Camp, they are willing to try this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea are keeping a close watch on the 28-year-old’s contract negotiations with Barcelona.

They are also willing to include current Spain international Arrizabalaga as part of any deal in a bid to tempt Barcelona into sanctioning the move.

As it stands, the report suggests the Catalan club are not keen to let Ter Stegen leave and he is one of the few players they will not listen to offers for.

They are also viewing renewing his contract, which ends in June 2022, as a priority ahead of the window.

Both Barcelona and Ter Stegen – who was voted the best player at the club by fans last week – are thought to be in agreement over extending the contract.

If Chelsea are unable to convince Barcelona to let Ter Stegen go, they will turn their attentions to Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak.

Even that might prove a difficult deal for Chelsea, who have already recruited heavily going into the summer.

They have snapped up Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, and are moving to bring Kai Havertz in from Bayer Leverkusen.
