Bundesliga star Soyuncu admits he wants to play for Mourinho despite being in talks with Man City

Manchester City target Caglar Soyuncu has opened the door to a move to Manchester United by revealing he wants to play under Jose Mourinho.

The Turkish defender has been identified as a target by Pep Guardiola and the star’s agent confirmed earlier this week that City had been in contact over a move.

‘Manchester City have made contact to us through a third party,’ revealed Mustafa Dogru.

‘Caglar is the type of defender that suits Pep Guardiola’s style and his goal is to play Premier League football but he is focused on Freiburg until the end of the season.’

However, the 20-year-old appears to favour a move to city rivals Manchester United by declaring that he hopes to play under Jose Mourinho.

‘I admire Jose Mourinho, not just his football but his philosophy,’ said Soyuncu.‘I would like to work with him in the future.’

Mourinho, like Guardiola, was keen to bolster his defence during the January transfer window but eventually ended the club’s pursuit of Benfica ace Victor Lindelof.

The likes of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have surprisingly impressed so far this term but Mourinho could reassess the club’s situation in the summer.
