Marcus Rashford’s patience has paid off, and he will leave Manchester United for Barcelona, with a loan agreement nearing completion between the two teams. Rashford has only had eyes for Barcelona since his loan spell at Aston Villa ended prematurely due to injury, and, barring any setbacks, he will get his way.
The 27-year-old turned down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia and has been waiting for Barcelona and United to reach an agreement. Barcelona were originally hesitant, first pursuing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams and then flirting with Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.
However, Hansi Flick’s team is now interested in signing the United forward, seeing him as a left-sided alternative in their 4-3-3 system and a backup to veteran centre-forward Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona’s financial troubles in recent years have been well documented, and the Catalan club has been reticent to sign Rashford on a permanent basis right away. Rashford was valued at £40 million by United before joining Ruben Amorim’s ‘bomb squad’ that included Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Alejandro Garnacho. Reported By Birminghamma News.
United want to sell their undesirable players as soon as possible to help fund a significant squad overhaul, which has already seen Matheus Cunha arrive for £62.5 million, with Bryan Mbeumo expected to follow for £70 million.
However, they have agreed to loan Rashford out again on the condition that Barcelona pay Rashford’s entire salary and keep the option to buy. That is a big financial commitment; he gets paid £325,000 per week under a contract that runs until June 2028.
Getting that off their pay bill will be a relief for United, who are also close to finalizing Sancho’s transfer to Juventus in the coming days.
