Barcelona Rule Out Surgery For Incredible Midfielder After Latest Injury

Barcelona are reported to have ruled out allowing Pedri Gonzalez undergo surgery on his thigh following his recent injury.

The Barcelona midfielder has had numerous injuries this season. The 21-year-old sustained his third thigh injury of the 2023–24 season on Sunday during the Blaugrana’s goalless draw against Athletic Club.

Following testing on Monday, it was determined that the injury sustained by the Spain international was identical to the two he had earlier in the season.

Since then, it has been suggested that Pedri would miss five to six weeks of action. However, Barca are unwilling to give the midfield star a specific return date.

According to Barca Universal, It is certain that Pedri will not undergo surgery for the thigh injury. With Adria Albets stating Barcelona have completely ruled out this option.

The Catalan club have not established a return date for the former Las Palmas wonderkid. Instead, he will receive conservative treatment while recovering.

Pedri has suffered multiple muscle injuries since overstretching it during the 2020–21 season, when he played 70 games for both club and country combined.

As previously stated, he has sustained three injuries this season alone. All of the same kind, raising doubts about whether surgery would be pursued this time.

Pedri would have been out of the season, much like Alejandro Balde. And his participation in the UEFA Euro 2024 would have been seriously doubtful if he had undergone surgery at this point.
