Barcelona continue to monitor the African market in order to obtain a competitive advantage in talent recruitment.
To that purpose, they inked a cooperative arrangement with the Africa Foot Academy, which allowed them to bring in Malian winger Ibrahim Diarra, who will play for the reserve squad after impressing for Juvenil A last season.
Barcelona are closing in on two more African pearls
According to SPORT, Barcelona is on the approach of signing two more promising Mali youngsters: Aboubacar Maiga and Moustapha Traore.
The African duo has already got consent from the club’s scouts to spend several months on trial, with the goal of securing long-term contracts.
Both are regarded as Malian football’s greatest prospects, with other clubs keeping an eye on them.
Aboubacar Maiga is now the profile that best meets Barcelona’s requirements. He is a technical playmaking midfielder with remarkable abilities. He was creative and had exceptional vision, so he could easily adapt to the defensive midfield position.

His development has been monitored by the club’s coaches for months, and they believe he has the potential to be a highly bright player.
Moustapha Traore is a fast winger with good one-on-one dribbling skills and accurate crosses. Coaches at the academy praise his technical abilities and potential for development, but he needs to improve his goal-scoring record.
He is a robust, skilled player who shares parallels with Ibrahim Diarra, who has made a strong impression at Barcelona in the short period since his arrival.
What the plan?
As with Ibrahim Diarra, the goal is to have Maiga and Traore work with Barcelona’s young team to help them adjust to European football.
If they acclimate well to the game and Barcelona’s style, the club will sign them when they reach 18, allowing them to continue their growth with the Catalan club.
For the time being, these are the only two African players added to the young system this season, however the quest for additional talent will continue.
