Aston Villa Close To Signing One Of Mourinho’s Favorite Players

Aston Villa are reportedly set to seal the signing of Italian winger, Nicolo Zaniolo from Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal with an option to purchase.

After a January move from Roma to Bournemouth fell through, the 24-year-old forward made a switch to Turkey in February. And he committed to the Istanbul giants for four and a half years.

Zaniolo, who scored five goals in ten league games to help Gala win their first Turkish Super Lig championship in four years, is about to depart the club barely six months after joining.

Zaniolo has been chosen by manager Unai Emery and president of football operations Monchi as Villa’s solution for the injured Emi Buendia.

In fact, Emery has previously mentioned Zaniolo’s abilities and what he could contribute to his team.

“Zaniolo is not a striker. He is versatile,” the boss said as cited by 90min.

“He can play as a striker, a number seven or a number 10. And he is one of those on our list, with the qualities he has, to help us.”

Villa have agreed to a loan agreement in which they will pay an initial loan fee of £3.4 million. And then have the option to make the agreement permanent for an additional £23.2 million.

But the agreement also contains a clause that makes the purchase obligatory.

In order to perhaps be available to make his Villa debut this weekend against Everton, Zaniolo will undergo a medical in Birmingham on Wednesday.
