Arteta’s Son Makes Arsenal Under-18s Bow

Mikel Arteta’s oldest son made his competitive debut during Arsenal’s under-18 3-0 victory over Reading at Bearwood Park on Wednesday.

According to ESPN, Gabriel Arteta Bernal came off the bench in the 70th minute in a match that was won by a brace from Alex Marciniak and a goal from Emerson Nwaneri, the 15-year-old sibling of Ethan Nwaneri.

The 16-year-old son of Arteta was originally listed on the bench for the February 18s friendly versus Ipswich Town.

Six months have passed since he made his competitive debut for the U17s against Watford in the Premier League Cup.

Gabriel is viewed as a winger, in contrast to the Arsenal manager who played in central midfield for teams like Paris Saint-Germain, Everton, and the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Dean Barker, QPR’s head of young talent, has revealed that he has joined Arsenal’s academy’s recruitment staff.

He was a PE instructor at the same school that produced Nwaneri, an Arsenal youth product who is currently on loan at Marseille after struggling for minutes amid Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge.
