Arsenal Handed Huge Injury Boost Ahead Of Sporting CP clash

Arsenal defender, Gabriel Magalhaes has reportedly returned to team training handing the Gunners a massive boost ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Sporting CP.

Gabriel was forced off during Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Southampton at the weekend and while he did not go directly down the tunnel after being substituted for William Saliba, he was captured with ice strapped to his left leg.

When questioned later about the Brazilian defender, Mikel Arteta gave a concerning update.

He said: “I don’t know – he felt something.

“Don’t know exactly what it is but we’re going to have to assess him. Obviously when a player is asking to be substituted, it’s never good news.”

According to the Evening Standard, Gabriel appears to be available for selection against Sporting as the Gunners attempt to turn things around following loses to Southampton and Manchester City in back-to-back games.

Rice, Trossard Could Return

Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard participated in Monday’s training at the Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney. The team is scheduled to depart for Portugal later in the afternoon.

However, neither Bukayo Saka nor Jurrien Timber were spotted, indicating that they will likely miss out on the game.

Arsenal boss Arteta will probably give an update in front of the media in Lisbon at 6.45 p.m. BST on whether Saka and Timber will be able return before the second game at the Emirates Stadium next week.

Mikel Merino, Piero Hincapie, and Eberechi Eze all missed the pre-Sporting training session due to injuries, as was to be expected.
