Antonio Conte Stays In Italy Following AC Milan Loss To Recover From Surgery

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Cristian Stellini will take over first-team duties after manager, Antonio Conte, decided to stay in Italy after post-operation check.

After having gallbladder surgery recently, the Tottenham manager returned to the sidelines earlier than anticipated, taking charge of both the weekend match against Leicester City and the midweek match against AC Milan. Coincidentally, both games ended in a loss for Conte and his side.

He then had a standard post-surgery check-up in Italy following the San Siro loss to Milan, and it was decided that Conte would stay in his native country to recuperate and Stellini would handle matchday responsibilities.

A statement from the club reads: “Following a routine post-operation check in Italy yesterday, Antonio Conte will remain at his family home to recover from his recent surgery.

“Health is the most important consideration and everyone at the Club wishes him well. Cristian Stellini will assume First Team duties.”

A timeline for Conte’s return to England has not been outlined, so one can expect Stellini to at the very least be in charge for the Lilywhites’ London derby clash with West Ham in the Premier League.
