Antalyaspor lift ban on Eto’o after he accused the club of racism

Antalyaspor included Samuel Eto’o in their squad on Sunday for the first time since he allegedly accused the club’s leadership of racism on social media last month.

His suspension was lifted by the Turkish club and was in their squad to play Galatasaray, a match they lost 3-1. The club’s chairman Ali Safak Ozturk, who was said to be the intended target of Eto’o’s comments, said he hoped the 35 -year-old had turned a corner in terms of his attitude.

“We hope he will behave more carefully in the future and make a positive contribution to the team,” said Ozturk (via BBC Sport).

Former Chelsea and Barcelona striker Eto’o later denied any wrongdoing on his part, but was still handed the suspension by Antalyaspor.

He came off the bench in the first half but was unable to affect the outcome of the match, leaving his side bottom of the Turkish Super Lig after six games.

The Cameroonian has scored just one goal for Antalyaspor this season, and is yet to register an assist.

Two goals from former Arsenal winger Lukas Podolski secured victory for Galatasaray, leaving them third behind Besiktas and leaders İstanbul Başakşehir.
