Albon in Red Bull driving seat

Albon in Red Bull driving seat

Christian Horner believes Red Bull’s remaining drivers seat for 2020 is Alexander Albon’s to lose. The Thai driver is enjoying an impressive rookie season in Formula One, as his performances with Toro Rosso over the first half of the campaign earned him a chance with Red Bull, as he swapped places with the struggling Pierre Gasly in August. Since making the step up to Red Bull, Albon has finished in the top six in all seven of his races, accumulating 68 points in the process, which is 14 more than star team-mate Max Verstappen over the same period. While Verstappen’s place with Red Bull is assured for next season, Albon’s position appears to still be up for grabs, although Horner admits it is the 23-year-old’s to lose at this stage. “It’s his seat to lose really,” Horner told Sky Sports. “He’s got his bum in it at the moment and he’s doing a good job. “We’ve still got time until the end of the year. All the drivers are under contract for next year so we don’t need to rush – but everybody has been impressed with the work he’s doing so far.” Albon’s has two more races to impress the powers at be at Red Bull before the end of the season, starting with next week’s Brazilian Grand Prix.
