Arsenal Announce Emirates Cup Opponents

Borussia Dortmund will be Arsenal’s opponent in the Emirates Cup this summer.

The Bundesliga team have been in contact with the Premier League champions to arrange a match, as disclosed by Football London.

The two teams will now play at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, August 9, with a kickoff at 2:00 PM. It is anticipated that a meeting with Como 1907 will take place at the Gunners’ home stadium during the preseason. Though this is said to still be awaiting for confirmation on Wednesday, August 12.

Club CEO Richard Garlick said: “We’re delighted to host the Emirates Cup once again and welcome our supporters back home to Emirates Stadium as we continue our preparations for the season ahead.

“Emirates has been a proud partner of the Emirates Cup since 2007, and we’re grateful for their continued commitment and long-standing support, which now spans 20 years.

“This summer will be no different as we look forward to welcoming Borussia Dortmund to Emirates Stadium, which will provide a highly competitive match as we put focus on continued growth and sustained success into next season and beyond.”

Arsenal have played Dortmund eight times in their history, all in the UEFA Champions League four wins, one draw, and three defeats.

Arsene Wenger’s team drew the German team in the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2014, marking their most recent encounter more than ten years ago.

After losing 2-0 on the road, the Gunners won 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Yaya Sanogo.
