Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Newcastle United midfielder, Sandro Tonali as De Zerbi starts restructuring his team following the club’s difficult 2025-26 campaign.
After struggling to stay in the Premier League, Spurs have already acted in the transfer market and are now pursuing a marquee midfield signing.
The north London club have brought in Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers, while also pursuing Savinho and Jan Paul van Hecke.
However, landing Tonali would constitute the clearest expression of intent yet under De Zerbi.
Tottenham Now In Hunt For Tonali
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have now entered the battle for the Newcastle midfielder.
Tonali has drawn interest from many major Premier League clubs, although Newcastle’s failure to qualify for Europe has stoked speculation regarding his future.
Romano revealed Tottenham’s interest in a post on X, claiming De Zerbi sees Tonali as a key addition to his midfield.
