According to reports, Manchester United has contacted West Ham about a second player, following Mateus Fernandes, as the Red Devils continue to restructure their roster under Michael Carrick. A deal to get Ederson from Atalanta has already been finalized, and there is enough money available to add more reinforcements. Central midfield continues to be United’s top focus during the transfer window.
Fernandes is the main objective, and at least one other center midfielder is expected to join the Brazilian. The West Ham midfielder is expected to leave the London Stadium after the Hammers’ Premier League relegation. Talks with Fernandes’ agent regarding a possible £80 million deal have already begun.
The 21-year-old is reportedly excited about the opportunity, and since United is also interested in Crysensio Summerville, he could not be the only player moving from East London to Manchester this summer.

According to The Athletic, Summerville, who is valued at £50 million and has already shown promise for the Netherlands at the World Cup, is being watched by a number of teams, including United. In addition to Fernandes, the 24-year-old is one of West Ham’s most important assets after relegation and may be on the move after scoring a spectacular goal for the Dutch in their 2-2 tie with Japan.
Summerville’s versatility has made him a desirable option for United should they choose to add a winger this summer, but strengthening their midfield will continue to be the team’s top priority.
After pursuing seasoned Premier League forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who both added a new dimension to their frontline, United had a successful summer transfer window.
