Rangers are facing the risk of losing talented centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez, who joined from Peterborough United just a year ago.
The Gers bought the 24-year-old for £3.5 million in the summer of 2025, a move that raised many eyebrows in the Scottish Premiership. Doubters have now been silenced.
Fernandez, with six goals in 33 games, is a threat on both ends of the field, garnering interest from all across Europe and getting traction on the international scene with Nigeria.
Unsurprisingly, fans are concerned that Rangers will lose their star centre-back, especially with the high price tags being floated, and the alarm bells are likely to sound even louder at Ibrox.

Arsenal might speed a move for Emmanuel Fernandez.
It has been widely reported that Arsenal and Chelsea have been monitoring Fernandez’s position, with other Premier League teams reportedly considering a move for the 24-year-old.
The Gunners may be poised to make a transfer this summer, however, as Mikel Arteta receives sad news after concluding the season with a Champions League loss to PSG.
According to L’Equipe (1 June), William Saliba’s back condition has deteriorated, not to the point that he will miss the 2026 World Cup, but enough that he may need surgery before the 2026-27 season.
Although Cristhian Mosquera is a good backup, Arteta will need at least one more defensive addition to supplement the bench, making a trade for Fernandez even more plausible this summer.
Danny Rohl already has huge ideas for Rangers No. 37
While the rest of the world waits to know where Fernandez will play next, Danny Rohl appears to be planning for life with the Nigerian centre-back at Ibrox.
Football Insider knows that he might be Rangers’ next captain following James Tavernier, indicating a high level of faith in the new acquisition, which is not surprising considering his performance.
The manager would be foolish to include Fernandez in his long-term plans if the owners intend to sell him this summer, but he may not be aware of their transfer plans.
Arsenal would definitely be a significant step up for the excellent defender, and it would be a difficult decision to refuse if the Premier League winners came calling for his services.
