Thomas Tuchel’s decision to exclude Harry Maguire from England’s World Cup squad has left his mother ‘absolutely disgusted.’
The formal confirmation of the 26-man squad traveling to the United States, Mexico, and Canada is scheduled for Friday morning; nevertheless, a number of leaks have indicated that several players have been omitted.
Maguire himself disclosed that he had been left out by the England manager on Thursday night before any formal announcement was made. The Manchester United defender expressed his annoyance on social media.
“I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision,” Maguire said.

“I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years. I wish the players, all the best this summer.”
Maguire’s Mum ‘Absolutely Disgusted’
According to the Metro, His mum, Zoe echoed those sentiments, writing on Z: “Absolutely disgusted.”
Replying to her son’s social media post, she added: “You couldn’t have done anymore. Hold your head high …Disgraceful.”
Leaks indicate that Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Jarell Quansah and Dan Burn have been chosen ahead of Maguire in the centre-half, while Levi Colwill of Chelsea has also been left out, even though the official squad list has not yet been made public.
Under Gareth Southgate, Maguire was a key member of the defensive team that helped England get to both the World Cup 2018 semifinal and the Euro 2020 final.
In addition, he started every match at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, although an injury kept him out of the 2024 European Championship.
