Mohamed Salah was not pleased following Liverpool’s 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa on Friday night.
The Egyptian, who will say goodbye to Liverpool supporters on Sunday at Anfield against Brentford, asserted that the team must revert to the “heavy metal” style of game played under Jurgen Klopp, Arne Slot’s predecessor.
With Liverpool in fifth place in the Premier League after losing 12 games in a miserable title defence, Slot has been under more and more pressure.
Although Salah’s criticism of “yet another defeat” was not unpopular among Liverpool supporters, former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney held a different view.
Rooney Not Having Any Of Salah’s Criticism
He questioned Salah’s Liverpool farewell and proposed that he be benched for the season’s last game.
“I find it sad at the end of what he’s done and what he’s achieved at Liverpool. It’s not the point for him to come out and aim another dig at Slot,” the ex-England international said on the Wayne Rooney Show.
“He wants to play heavy metal football, so he’s basically saying he wants Jurgen Klopp football.

“Now I don’t think Mo Salah can cope with that type of football anymore. I think his legs have gone to play at that high tempo and high intensity.
