Marc Cucurella Admits Barcelona Return Would Be Hard To Refuse Amid Chelsea Frustrations

Marc Cucurella has opened the door to a return to Barcelona, saying a move to the Spanish giants would be “difficult to reject.”

The 27-year-old left-back came through Barça’s academy but only made one first-team appearance before spells at Eibar, Getafe, Brighton and Chelsea.

Speaking ahead of Spain’s friendly against Egypt, Cucurella revealed he would also consider his family before making a final decision.

“If an offer comes, it comes, and we will have to see what decision we would make,” he said.

Cucurella, contracted to Chelsea until 2028, admitted the club’s focus on signing young players does not match his own ambitions for immediate success.

He cited the Blues’ recent Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain as evidence they are “still a bit away from the top level.”

The Spanish defender also disagreed with Chelsea’s mid-season decision to sack Enzo Maresca, explaining it disrupted the squad, reports ESPN.

“The moment Maresca left, it had a big impact on us. Instability came from this,” he said.

Cucurella emphasized that while Chelsea has a solid player core, more reinforcements are needed to compete for major trophies.

Meanwhile, Barcelona continue to target full-back reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window.
