Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall feels that his past working relationship with England boss Thomas Tuchel has no bearing as he fights for a spot in the squad for this summer’s World Cup.
For this month’s friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, Tuchel has called up Hall, 21, to the national squad for the first time. This comes after he got two caps from Lee Carsley earlier in 2024 during his brief stint.
Tuchel, who gave the left-back his senior debut at Chelsea in 2022, will be reunited with him upon his return.
According to the Independent, the Magpies player maintains that he is now a completely different person and football player.
Hall Speaks
“When I knew him back in my Chelsea days, I was obviously not quite in the first team, but I was training quite regularly with them at a certain point,” Hall explained.
“He was the one who gave me my debut, so I was obviously incredibly grateful for that, and that’ll be a memory that I’ll always have.”
