Xavi Simons Completes Tottenham Medical As Spurs Beat Chelsea To His Signature

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Xavi Simons after the RB Leipzig star successfully completed his medical in north London.

The Dutch midfielder is expected to join Spurs in a €60m (£52m/$70m) move, with personal terms already agreed ahead of the official announcement.

According to David Ornstein, Tottenham acted swiftly to secure Simons, determined not to suffer a repeat of the infamous 2013 Willian saga.

Back then, Willian underwent a Spurs medical before switching last minute to Chelsea. Tottenham’s hierarchy are desperate to avoid such embarrassment again.

Tottenham Finally Land Their No.10

Spurs had targeted both Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze earlier this summer, but failed to bring either to north London.

Now, Thomas Frank has his dream signing, with Simons expected to slot directly into the No.10 role vacated by James Maddison’s ACL injury.

The 22-year-old has built an impressive reputation in Germany, registering 22 goals and 24 assists across 78 appearances for RB Leipzig.

On the international stage, Simons has already earned 28 caps for the Netherlands, making him one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders, reports GOAL.

Tottenham are rushing to finalise paperwork before the registration deadline, as Simons could debut against Bournemouth this weekend if confirmed in time.

For Spurs, landing Xavi Simons is more than just a transfer – it is a statement of intent in the Premier League and European football.
