Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen believes his side \u2018threw away\u2019 the title in March\u2019s draw with Arsenal when they had the chance to overtake Leicester City at the top of the Premier League, as opposed to the more recent 2-2 tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Spurs drew with Chelsea earlier this week after leading 2-0 at half-time and the point ensured that Leicester were crowned as champions as they sit seven clear of the north Londoners with two games left to play.<\/p>\n

However, that was not the game that saw Spurs \u2018throw away\u2019 their chance of winning the title, according to Eriksen. The Denmark international \u2013 who has created 109 chances this season \u2013 maintais it was their draw with Arsenal in early-March, when they had the chance to move top of the league with a win, that set them back heavily.<\/p>\n

Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld put Spurs in control at White Hart Lane but an equaliser from Alexis Sanchez saw the points shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is exceptional what they [Leicester City] have done,\u201d Eriksen said, reports the Daily Mail. \u201cI can only credit them for what they have done and achieved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI texted [Denmark team-mate Kasper] Schmeichel to say congratulations and he was happy. I could feel that in his text message. He was really happy. They definitely deserve it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe threw it away a few games ago when we had the chance to go top, which we didn\u2019t. After that they showed consistency by winning games 1-0 for the whole season. So congrats to Leicester. Hopefully next season will be revenge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spurs would have gone top of the league table for only a matter of hours as Leicester City beat Watford later that day to establish a five-point gap in the late kick-off on March 5.<\/p>\n

Leicester stunned the sporting world to win the title, the first in the club\u2019s history, after barely escaping relegation last season.<\/p>\n

However, it is testament to the quality that Spurs have that, even with the gap at eight points on Monday night, many still believed they could catch the Foxes.<\/p>\n
