Arsenal has announced that William Saliba has signed a new five-year contract, which will keep him at the club until 2030. This is a big boost for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, since the club has secured one of Europe’s best defenders for the foreseeable future. It also deters Real Madrid, who were surrounding Saliba as he reached the final two years of his contract with the Emirates.
Real Madrid had begun a public wooing campaign for the French international in the hopes that he would let his contract expire, allowing them to bring him to Spain. However, 24-year-old Saliba has vowed his future to Arsenal, as the team looks to win major trophies under Arteta’s guidance.
Saliba described the five reasons why he prolonged his stay in north London: “I feel at home. We have a solid team, we have a good squad, we have fantastic staff. The coach is ideal for me, so this is the best place to be.”

He continued, “I appreciate every day when I get to wear this shirt. I try to give my all, and now I’m going to contribute even more to this team and its fans.” According To Express News.
Arteta praised Saliba, saying: “William is adored by all of the players and staff, which speaks volumes about his character, commitment, and attitude every day. Since joining us, William has matured significantly, accepted responsibility, and formed strong bonds with our supporters and everyone at the club.
Saliba has previously stated that he bought an Arsenal shirt as a boy and grew up adoring the Gunners and its roster of French players, including Thierry Henry. Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s sporting director, has led a wave of new contract signings since coming over last summer.
Arsenal has successfully signed Gabriel, one half of one of Europe’s best defensive combinations with Saliba, to a new contract. The Gunners have also signed Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri to long-term contracts, with Bukayo Saka next in line.
