Real Madrid will play city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semifinal in an attempt to exact revenge for their 5-2 defeat earlier in the season and move closer to winning their first trophy under Xabi Alonso.
It will be extremely difficult for the Merengues to win tonight in Jeddah because they have lost most of their games against elite teams under Alonso.
Vinicius Is Prepared
According to Madrid Universal, Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Jr. told the club media that the team were cohesive and ready for the task and that winning the Super Cup might alter the dynamics for the entire season.
“The derby is coming, the Supercopa, which is only two games where you can take a title home,” said Vinicius.

“The team is doing well, connected, with confidence for this match because we know that when we come to Arabia and play two good games, it changes the whole dynamic of the season.”
Talking about what manager Alonso had asked of the team heading into the derby against Atleti, the Brazilian superstar replied:
“With desire and commitment, because we know that the derby is always very complicated, where the goals come from the details and we have to be focused on that because we’ve already played them once and we already know how we have to do it.”
Concluding, Vinicius had a message for the Real Madrid fans heading into tonight’s blockbuster clash.
“Be calm and with us, we’re going to play a great match. Hala Madrid!”
