Vinicius Junior has apologized following his outburst at Xabi Alonso during Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona on Sunday.
The Brazil international became enraged with Alonso after he was replaced in the 72nd minute and went straight down the tunnel at the Santiago Bernabeu.
After the full-time whistle, Vinicius went back to the bench and got involved in the altercation between the two groups of players.
Alonso and Vinicius’s relationship is reportedly strained as a result of the incident, but the winger has since apologized for his behaviour toward Madrid’s head coach during the match.

“Today I want to apologise to all Madrid fans for my reaction to being substituted in El Clasico,’ Vinicius Jr said in a statement as quoted by The Metro.
“Just as I already apologised in person during training today, I also want to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the president.
“Sometimes my passion gets the better of me; I always want to win and help my team.
“My competitive nature stems from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents. I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since day one.”
Madrid are now five points clear at the top of La Liga following Sunday’s win. They host Valencia in their next league outing on Saturday.
