Micky van de Ven has reportedly maintained that his response following Tottenham Hotspur’s loss to Chelsea on Saturday was solely driven by frustration and had nothing to do with manager Thomas Frank.
Van de Ven and Spurs teammate Djed Spence made headlines when they ignored Frank’s orders to cheer on the home crowd and proceeded straight down the tunnel in the face of boos.
After a lackluster performance in the London derby, it was a striking exchange and an unwelcome detour for Tottenham.
Van de Ven, however, made peace with an outstanding solo goal in Tuesday’s 4-0 thrashing of Copenhagen after the pair apologized on Sunday.

According to The Independent, when asked about the weekend incident, Van de Ven said: “It’s the past so I don’t want to make it bigger than it is.
“Djed and I walked off, we were just frustrated after the game and everything got really exploded, to be honest, by the media.
“It was nothing big, to be honest. Everyone thinks it was the gaffer, there was nothing to do with the gaffer. We were just frustrated after the game because of a bad performance from myself as well.
