Ex-Man United Star Reacts To Player Being Rushed To Hospital Following Horror Tackle That Led To Red Cards

Antonio Valencia sent a poignant letter to his fellow Ecuadorian after suffering a terrible leg break during a game.

Jean Pierre Arroyo Vernaza sustained the terrible injury on Saturday while playing for Independiente del Valle against elite rivals Mushuc Runa.

His game ended after barely one hour following a horrific challenge. Opposition player Brian Negro brought him down as he attempted to rush towards the goal.

Vernaza screamed in pain as he fell onto the turf, clearly suffering from an ankle injury with his foot twisted in the opposite direction.

Negro was given a red card for the tackle, but he insisted he was innocent. As a result, a massive altercation broke out between the two teams, leaving some in tears.

Vernaza, meanwhile, got a lot of medical care before being taken in an ambulance to the hospital. Valencia, a former Manchester United player who suffered a similar injury while at Old Trafford, is among many who have given their well wishes in the wake of the event.

Valencia Sends A Heartfelt Message

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Stay strong in these tough times, you have to come back even stronger. There is no other option, friend.”

According to the Daily Star, a statement from Independiente del Valle read: “Club Independiente del Valle, in light of the unfortunate injury suffered by our player Jean Pierre Arroyo Vernaza, deeply appreciates the overwhelming number of messages, expressions of affection, and concern shown by fans, clubs, and the entire football community.

“This support and solidarity are a fundamental driving force for Jean Pierre to face this moment with strength and return to the pitch stronger than ever.

“The club sends him all our strength and wishes him a speedy and successful recovery. The entire Independiente del Valle team and family are with him during this difficult time.”
