Two Liverpool Stars Slammed Following Reds Victory Over Newcastle

Arne Slot has been warned that Liverpool’s defensive calamity class against Newcastle United will cost them the Premier League title.

The Reds defeated 10-man Newcastle in a thrilling match at St. James’ Park, as Rio Ngumoha, 16, came off the bench to steal a 3-2 victory deep into stoppage time.

The Magpies, who had Anthony Gordon sent off in first-half stoppage time and were behind 2-0 seconds after the half time break, appeared to have secured a spectacular point with fellow replacement Will Osula’s first goal of the season.

But an incredible 3-2 victory for the visitors was guaranteed by Ngumoha’s strike in the 10th minute of stoppage time.

Slot will not have been pleased with his team’s poor defense, which was visible in both of Newcastle’s goals, even though Liverpool were able to avoid the consequence.

First, Osula grabbed a long free-kick from Nick Pope and bundled the ball home after Bruno Guimaraes easily outjumped Milos Kerkez, a £40 million summer acquisition from Bournemouth.

TalkSPORT host Jeff Stelling and former Rangers striker Ally McCoist made harsh remarks about the goals’ nature.

Stelling declared: “They cannot win the league defending like that.

“[Ibrahima] Konate had another nightmarish game. Kerkez, what was he doing for the Bruno goal?” McCoist then waded in: “He doesn’t jump. Is he trying to shield him out the road?

“It’s a good header from Bruno, he does well, but I don’t know what he’s trying to do. The second, it’s just an old-fashioned long ball that they don’t deal with.”
