Barcelona Star Released From Spain Squad Due To Muscle Overload

Ferran Torres is reportedly out of Spain’s next game against Bulgaria due to muscle overload which is yet another worrying development for Barcelona.

The Barca forward experienced discomfort following La Roja’s match against Georgia last week, and examinations showed an overload without any injuries, according to the Spanish Football Federation’s statement as reported by Barca Universal.

However, Barcelona’s medical team has been informed that he will now miss their next game against Bulgaria.

“Ferran Torres has been withdrawn from the squad for the match against Bulgaria – the fourth qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup in Valladolid,” the statement read.

“The FC Barcelona forward, after completing the match against Georgia in Elche, reported muscular discomfort, which was assessed by the medical services of the RFEF, including complementary tests, diagnosing a muscular overload without any associated anatomical injury.

“Given the proximity of the match against Bulgaria, and adhering to the policy of avoiding risk and putting the player’s health first, he has been withdrawn from the squad. The medical services of FC Barcelona have been informed of all the details.”

Given how many injuries Barcelona are currently dealing with, particularly in attack, this is a worrying development.

Due to a calf injury, Dani Olmo left Spanish squad last week. Prior to that, Lamine Yamal had also withdrawn from the La Roja call-up.

The severity of Ferran’s problem and if it would impact his availability to play Girona this weekend are still unknown.
