Surprise Bayer Leverkusen Reaction As Jeremie Frimpong To Liverpool Links Grow

Director Fernando Carro of Bayer Leverkusen has disclosed that the team has not received any communication from Liverpool regarding right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

There are rumors that the Premier League winners will soon activate his nearly £30 million release clause.

Liverpool has their sights set on Frimpong in anticipation of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s summer departure, and they were recently said to be “on the verge” of finalizing a deal for the attack-first defender.

Frimpong has already agreed to personal terms with Liverpool. Given that the right-back’s contract with Leverkusen contains a release clause, this is probably going to be the most difficult aspect of negotiations.

The clause’s precise value is up for debate, but it is generally agreed to be between €35 million and €40 million (£29.5 million and £33.7 million), reports 90 Min.

Once an agreement with Frimpong is complete, Liverpool would then contact Leverkusen to trigger the clause.

According to Carro, there has not yet been anything to suggest that is likely to happen.

“Jeremie Frimpong has a long contract with us which also has an exit clause, but we are currently unaware of any transfer,” he said.

That could all change soon, though, as Liverpool is getting ready to approach Frimpong and activate his clause, which is worth £30 million.
