Liverpool’s stance on Luis Díaz’s future has become a defining story of the summer transfer season. According to ESPN, the Colombian winger is “determined to leave Liverpool” and hopes Bayern Munich will “make a new offer in the coming days to try to convince the English club.” The Bundesliga champions’ initial bid of €67.5 million was rejected, but they are now preparing a revised offer of around €70 million plus add-ons.
The interest is justified. Last season, Díaz scored 17 goals and helped Liverpool win the title. Despite flourishing in Arne Slot’s new era, it appears his ambitions are elsewhere.

Díaz initially targeted Barcelona as the “ideal signing to complement Lamine Yamal and Raphina in attack” (ESPN). Barcelona made an offer of around £65 million, which, like Bayern’s, was quickly rejected. Their focus has now shifted to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, after they failed to sign Nico Williams.
Liverpool’s Firm Grip Faces Continuous Pressure
Liverpool has “been inflexible so far,” but ESPN’s sources say this may not last. With more than a month left in the transfer window, Bayern’s pursuit is unlikely to subside, especially given that they are now “the European club bidding the highest”.
With two years remaining on his contract, Liverpool hoped to secure an extension. ESPN adds that these efforts were “unsuccessful,” fueling the player’s desire to leave. According to the report, Díaz, 28, considers this a pivotal moment in his career and has expressed this to Liverpool officials on multiple occasions.
